Doug Salkeld

I was born in Washington, DC. And the family moved to California when I was six months old. I’ve lived in Tucson, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii.  I worked with medical research animals at Scripps Research Institute for thirty years.  

Retiring in 2005, and at my sister’s request, moved to Taos.  My family lived in Santa Fe and Cerrillos during the 60’s and early 70’s.  I continued to visit through the 80’s and 90’s.   So I always felt I belong in New Mexico, so I am absolutely thrilled that I’m back and settled.

I am very happy to be working at San Cristobal Academy!  My entire life, I have always wanted to help people. This job certainly does that and teaches me about myself.

Camping and hiking are my passion, as well as aspects of biology and zoology.  I really like snakes….all of them.
