Sean Murpy
Director of Operations

Before Sean joined the San Cristobal Academy staff, he was the Director of Operations for the New Mexico Region for The Right Step. He was responsible for all clinical services including Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, Aftercare, as well as managing all administrative aspects of running a treatment center. He is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counsellor in New Mexico, and holds a BachelorÕs Degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland. He is currently working on his MasterÕs in Professional Counselling.
Sean entered the world of recovery in 1990 due to his alcohol addiction. Upon completing treatment he then volunteered to be a substance abuse counsellor in the Navy, he spent his last years in the Navy, helping other addicts/alcoholics. This provided him with an interesting aspect of 12-step work, including conducting Alcoholic Anonymous while at sea.
Sean brings a great deal of leadership experience to San Cristobal Academy. His 21 years in the US Navy were invaluable to his life skills. He was instrumental in ensuring two facilities were JCAHO Accredited. He is also a CARF Surveyor; this is a unique aspect of his work in the world of addiction. Working with CARF allows him to be on the cutting edge of treatment experiences, ideas and practices.
He is originally from the Great Pacific Northwest and considers himself a diehard Seattle Seahawks fan. He enjoys running, golf and spending time with his wife of 17 years. He is excited to be a part of San Cristobal Academy and is looking forward to a new challenge.
