ProgramThere are four areas of concentration at SCA. These areas are
RecoveryThe Substance Abuse program is based on the Principles of Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12-Step program. Students must attend AA/NA meetings five times per week and have individual case management completed by licensed Substance Abuse Counselors. More... Life SkillsAt San Cristobal Academy, we proactively assist young men in mastering those tasks essential to their success in the adult world. Our Life Skills program enables students to live independently after graduation from our program. More... Academic and Vocational EducationThe Academic Education component of SCA provides classroom and outdoor instruction in diverse fields, designed to expose our students to areas of possible interest. These classes and activities are offered daily at the academy. Several classes are required by our curriculum, but students may also choose from elective classes covering a wide range of subjects which assist to prepare them for the college classroom. When students transition to Phase Two, they can attend the University of New Mexico-Taos to obtain a New Mexico High School Diploma or seek their college education. UNM-Taos is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. All students who are enrolled at UNM-Taos are attending a fully accredited University. Distance Learning through correspondence and online courses are also an option. The Vocational Education component of the SCA curriculum focuses on the student's ability to develop a work ethic. We offer general carpentry and woodshop classes, as well as instruction in facility maintenance. We hope to instill in each student a sense of ownership and responsibility in their work and to our community. More... Emotional and Personal GrowthStudents attend group and individual sessions that target issues of emotional growth and personal development, which are interwoven throughout each component of the San Cristobal Academy program.
